Operating Facilities

Tapia Aerial-2-4x6-96
The centerpiece of Triunfo's wastewater treatment process is the Tapia Water Reclamation Facility, co-owned by Triunfo and Las Virgenes Municipal Water District through a Joint Powers Authority. This state-of-the-art facility transforms millions of gallons of wastewater, collected through the municipal sewer system, into recycled water for irrigation of parks, school grounds, and greenbelt areas throughout the community.

Also part of the Joint Powers Authority is the Rancho Las Virgenes Composting Facility. For more than 20 years, this facility has converted wastewater biosolids into a useful, nutrient-rich soil amendment. Compost is available to the public free of charge through the Community Compost Program - click here for information.

To convey wastewater through miles of pipeline to the Tapia Water Reclamation Facility, a series of strategically placed lift stations is required. Pictured above is the North Ranch Lift Station, which serves the portion of our service area of the same name. Using submersible pumps, these facilities "lift" (pump) sewage higher to allow it to continue its downhill journey through gravity-flow pipelines to the treatment plant.

On the potable water side of Triunfo's operations in the community of Oak Park, we use a network of water storage reservoirs such as the one pictured above to maintain a reliable supply of water, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All of the water supplied by Oak Park Water Service is purchased from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, via Calleguas Municipal Water District.

To convey water to all areas of Oak Park, many of which are in hilly regions, we use several water booster pumping stations such as this one. Water from our storage reservoirs flows under gravity to these electric motor pumps, which then "boost" it into the appropriate zones. We maintain back-up generators at our booster facilities to ensure uninterrupted supply during power outages.
